"As reported by Variety, casting is currently underway for the role, with actor Callum Turner reportedly in talks to play the character.
So, what exactly do we know about Newt’s big brother?
Theseus Scamander was referenced in the first film as a famous war hero. Representatives of the International Confederation of Wizards recognised the name ‘Scamander’, so his reputation clearly precedes him.
He might be on the Ministry of Magic’s radar but Theseus is still something of an enigma. However, we do know a little more about the actor in the running to play him.
Callum Turner’s career spans TV, film and theatre and he has worked alongside several Harry Potter actors and writers. The Green Room actor also bears a striking resemblance to Eddie Redmayne, too.
Turner acted with Harry Potter actress Helen McCrory in the British ITV series Leaving, and had a recurring main role in E4 drama Glue, which was written by Harry Potter and the Cursed Child playwright Jack Thorne. He appeared in Victor Frankenstein (2015) with Daniel Radcliffe, and in BBC’s historical drama War and Peace, where he played Anatole Kuragin.

Last week it was revealed that Jude Law will play Albus Dumbledore in the nextFantastic Beasts film.
The second film in the series will show Dumbledore decades before he became Headmaster at Hogwarts. At this point in the story he is the wizarding school’s Transfiguration professor and a contemporary of Gellert Grindelwald – the Dark wizard we met in Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them.
Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them marked J.K. Rowling’s screenwriting debut and the start of a new era of the wizarding world, set decades before Harry Potter’s adventures at Hogwarts. The author has also written the screenplay for the sequel, which takes the story deeper into an increasingly dark time for the wizarding world.
Five films are planned in the franchise, with David Yates returning as director for the sequel. The next Fantastic Beasts movie is slated for release 16 November 2018, and filming begins this summer."
